Optimal Liposomal Vitamin C by Seeking Health

The body requires vitamin C to support the immune system, normal skin and nervous system, and more. Seeking Health’s Optimal Liposomal Vitamin C offers the high per-dose concentration of 1000 mg of vitamin C in the form of sodium ascorbate and ascorbic acid. The formula has a soy-free, liposomal liquid form and a delicious taste. The unique soy-free liposomal form ensures optimal absorption of vitamin C. Liposomes are fat-like globules containing a nutrient, such as a vitamin or an herb, which in this form are often better absorbed by the body, resulting in greater bioavailability than the equivalent of powder or capsules. The formula is also free from the most common allergens and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

The importance of vitamin C

Vitamin C is one of the most popularly known vitamins, which is not surprising. It is an important vitamin that plays a role in many different bodily functions. Vitamin C supports the immune system, is important for the nervous system, as well as for a good condition of blood vessels, supports the bones and is important for skin, teeth, gums and cartilage. Vitamin also contributes to a normal energy balance, helps fight fatigue, promotes the absorption of iron in the blood, has an anti-oxidative effect and contributes to mental resilience. The recommended dosage for Optimal Liposomal Vitamin C is 1 teaspoon (5 ml) taken on an empty stomach or between meals, or as directed by your doctor. Since it may interfere with sleep, it is better not to take it within 3 hours of bedtime.

Evolution of epigenetics

In recent years, researchers have increasingly agreed that our DNA, or our genetic predisposition, is strongly influenced by environmental factors. For a long time it was thought that we could learn all about DNA if we just identified the over 25,000 genes. It has now become clear that the way in which our genes are expressed is not fixed, but that this is controlled by 'epigenomes': switches that can turn DNA 'on' or 'off', comparable to software that runs a computer. Epigenomes can be influenced by diet and other environmental factors, including lifestyle and environment. Epigeneticists study the changes in gene expression that occur at the epigenetic level. Epigenetics, then, is about changes in gene expression, without changes in the DNA sequence. It is a science that has evolved strongly in recent years and that focuses in particular on the process of methylation: the most important epigenetic process that takes place in our body.

The Methylation Process

The methylation process is one of the most important and most intriguing biochemical processes in our body. Currently a lot of research is being done with several studies pointing out that there is a probable link between the ability to methylate and health. The process of methylation takes place trillions of times every minute in all cells of our body and affects, among other systems, energy production, DNA regeneration, hormone production and repair work. Technically, methylation is a controlled transfer of a methyl group to primarily proteins, amino acids, enzymes and DNA. In addition, substances able to donate a methyl group are called methyl donors, including B vitamins, vitamin C, biotin, zinc, folic acid and betaine. Methyl groups facilitate the on-and-off switches of our DNA and thus play an important role in the gene expression of our DNA. This makes them one of the most researched molecules in epigenetics.

Epigenetics & Seeking Health

The term epigenetics was coined in 1942 by biologist Conrad Waddington in an attemot to interpret the phenomenon in which genes, under the influence of environmental factors, can be switched on and off. In epigenetic modifications, the function of a gene changes without changing its code, as when a piece of music is played by different musicians; the same notes are on the sheet, but they sound different. For example, two people who are genetically identical can still be very different epigenetically. This has been a guiding principle for Seeking Health’s Dr. Ben Lynch. By detecting the markers around the DNA that can turn genes on or off and influence them with the help of nutrition, supplements and lifestyle adjustments, Lynch argues that we can 'clean up our dirty genes', as it were, and can influence our gene expression.

About Seeking Health

Seeking Health was founded by Dr. Ben Lynch, who in 2018, after years of research, wrote the book Dirty Genes. Lynch received his doctorate in natural medicine from Bastyr University in Washington, DC, and helped thousands of clients, doctors and health professionals worldwide gain insights from epigenetics to optimize their health the holistic way. Lynch, currently the most consulted expert in epigenetics, is convinced that our genetic destiny is not fixed. Rather, through the right diet and lifestyle we can interact with our genes to realize our body’s full genetic potential.
