Deuterium-depleted water - Preventa® 65

Deuterium (D or 2H) is a rare type of hydrogen (H) that, just like ordinary hydrogen, becomes part of our body. Unlike ordinary hydrogen, excess deuterium is undesirable. In fact, deuterium appears to be one notable missing link in the extended puzzle that is bodily health. In western-hemisphere populations, the deuterium burden is so high that this should become an important point of attention for anti-aging and health care strategies.

Deuterium and hydrogen: The difference

Deuterium contains an extra neutron, doubling the mass of ordinary hydrogen. As this happens in water as well, a surplus of deuterium changes the chemistry of the 'ingredients' that make up our bodies. Throughout our body, both hydrogen and deuterium are integrated in our cells, tissues and fluids. The extra mass of deuterium means that the chemical reactions are different from those of hydrogen. This has various metabolic consequences.

Deuterium: A key player

Deuterium is everywhere: in the air, in food and water. The amount of deuterium is indicated in parts per million (PPM) yet despite these apparently small amounts, the influence of deuterium on the functioning of the body is significant. In comparison, your blood contains 6 times as much deuterium as it does calcium and 10 times as much deuterium as magnesium. The health effects of calcium and magnesium are widely known and well-documented, even though they occur to a lesser extent in the blood. Deuterium is something that you may want to take into account as well.

Deuterium depletion with Preventa® deuterium-depleted water

If deuterium levels are high because the body is unable to effectively excrete them, consider using deuterium-depleted water to dilute the total deuterium count in your body. Fitting a health-conscious lifestyle, this is an especially interesting option from the age of 30 and up. A common aim is to achieve a low deuterium concentration of 130 ppm. Lowering deuterium levels is a natural biochemical process and belongs to the normal functions of a cell. With deuterium-depleted potable water, the body’s deuterium levels can be kept low even if native physiological capacities are not optimal.

Anti-aging and health

Deuterium depletion is a new sub-molecular-level tool to lower the body's own deuterium concentrations. The natural ability to reduce deuterium decreases as you age, as become less active, when you are overweight, get less sleep, or have a generally fragile health. Low-deuterium drinking water can provide a solution to support your body’s native deuterium depletion capacities. It can be applied as a general health strategy but also for specific indications.

Biological significance of deuterium

If we take into account the very high concentrations of water throughout biological systems, it becomes difficult to neglect the relative amounts of "deuterated" water and deuterones. Deuterium concentrations in the human body are several times higher than the levels of other physiologically essential elements such as calcium, potassium and magnesium. In comparison, your blood contains 6 times as much deuterium as calcium and 10 times as much deuterium as magnesium. The health effects of calcium and magnesium are widely known and documented, even though they occur to a lesser extent in the blood. Deuterium is something that you also have to take into account.

Deuterium in the mitochondria

Mitochondria inside your cells play a central role in your energy metabolism, which in turn has a central role to play in overall health maintenance. Every mitochondrion has hundreds of nano-engines that derive energy from the food you eat. Hydrogen ions drive these nano-motors, which accomplishes ATP synthesis. Being a hydrogen variant, deuterium also has an effect on these nano-engines, however a negative one. Deuterium does not propel the motors but causes them to break. As a result, energy demand and supply become unbalanced.

Preventa® deuterium-depleted water

Preventa deuterium-depleted drinking water is the most studied deuterium-depleted drinking water in the world. It is also the only deuterium-depleted water that, in accordance with strict pharmaceutical guidelines, is produced from natural spring water. This makes the product safe and certified; it contains exactly what is stated on the bottle. Preventa® deuterium-deleted drinking water is available in various deuterium concentrations ranging from 25ppm to 125ppm. Natural water contains deuterium with an average of around 150 ppm. Water with a concentration of less than 140 ppm is considered low-deuterium. Preventa® products with different concentrations can be applied in different protocols. Preventa® deuterium-depleted drinking water can be used as a replacement for daily normal fluid intake.

Preventa deuterium-depleted drinking water: Benefits
