Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil by Rosita Real Foods

Rosita Real Foods™ Artisan Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil (EVCLO), as its full name promises, is very likely the rarest and most authentic cod liver oil in the world. The cod liver oil is extracted according to ancient principles through a patented extraction process that excludes the use of heat, chemicals and mechanical pressure. The cod is sustainably caught off the coast of Norway and the livers are strictly controlled and processed fresh. EVCLO is not fermented, rendering the product suitable for children and pregnant women. The cod liver oil softgels are free from artificial additives, easy to store and to take in, consisting as they do of capsules made from fish gelatin. The vitamins, fish fatty acids and other nutrients in this product retain their natural balance and help you optimally support your health!

The power of cod liver oil

Cod liver oil is back with a vengeance. And that's a good thing! Although cod liver oil is sometimes still linked to the bad taste that the substance often had in the 1950s, and there are still conflicting opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of consuming a lot of vitamin A, fortunately more and more people are rediscovering the power of cod liver oil (as well as the power of vitamin A). Rosita’s high-quality cod liver oil is particularly rich in vitamins A and D, iodine, phosphorus, omega-4, 6, 7, 9, 11 fatty acids and in omega-3 fatty acids such as EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). Vitamin A plays a role in the cell differentiation process, helps to see normally, is important for the skin, benefits the mucous membranes and, like vitamin D, supports the immune system.

Vitamin D also benefits the calcium balance and the skeleton of children, helps the cell division process and is important for both teeth and muscles. Iodine supports the normal growth of children, supports the energy metabolism and the thyroid gland, benefits mental focus and the nervous system and is important for the skin. Phosphorus also supports the teeth and bones of children and promotes energy metabolism. Both the fish fatty acids DHA and EPA together benefit blood pressure, heart, brain and vision.

Cod liver oil, an ancient remedy

Some will remember the taste of a spoonful of cod liver oil from their youth. Many children of the 1950s recall that the oil was extracted from the livers of fish such as cod and halibut, to support their resilience and prevent rickets (bone deformity).

Since the Margarine Decree of 1961 saw to it that Vitamin D was added to products like margarine, cod faded into the background and fish oil became more popular which, though rich in fish fatty acids, does not contain vitamins A and D. More and more doctors and health experts say that the cod liver oil from the past was not so bad.

Cod liver oil is on the rise again! Fortunately, the taste is now also very good. Today's high-quality liver oil is a colorless or light yellow oil with a slightly fishy taste and odor. Many people confuse cod liver oil with whale oil, Incidentally, the latter oil was used from the 17th century until well into the 19th century as, in particular, lamp oil, and made from the blubber of whales.

Cod liver oil versus fish oil

Cod liver oil is a type of fish oil, but fish oil is not the same as cod liver oil. What exactly are the differences? Fish oil is a broader term and is especially popular due to the fact that fish oil is a rich source of the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. Cod liver oil also contains these fish fatty acids, but in addition is rich in vitamins A and D and in other important nutrients including phosphorus and iodine. Cod liver oil is actually the richest and most natural form of fish oil.

The oil is, after all, not refined and is obtained strictly from the livers of fish like cod, haddock and halibut. With regular fish oil, on the other hand, the entire fish is pressed, after which the oil is extracted, purified and then often enriched with vitamins. Cod liver oil in its purest form is colorless or light yellow and has the scent of fresh or smoked fish. Because cod liver oil is rich in vitamin D, it is often given to children, due to the fact that vitamin D is important for the teeth, benefits the skeleton of children and supports the immune system. Vitamin A in cod liver oil also supports the immune system and the vitamin also benefits eyesight and skin, and it plays a role in the cell differentiation process.

Cod liver oil of the highest quality

Rosita Real Foods is committed to creating handcrafted products that are manufactured in harmony with nature. The brand's oils are a sustainable and natural source of essential fatty acids and are of the highest quality. Rosita Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil (EVCLO) is regarded worldwide as one of the richest cod liver oil products available. The oil is made exclusively from wild cod responsibly and sustainably harvested from the pristine waters off the coast of Norway. A unique, artisanal and cold process patented by Rosita is followed to extract the oil from the fish, preserving the unrefined nutrients naturally present in the livers of wild-caught cod.

The result is an oil as pure and authentic as the cod liver oil that was hand-crafted and used by our Norwegian ancestors hundreds of years ago. It is for a reason that Rosita Real Foods is the only company that has received permission from the Norwegian Institute of Food, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research to use the name 'extra virgin' for its products. All products by Rosita Real Foods are independently tested for purity and nutritional values. The concentration of the fat-soluble nutrients can vary, because it depends on multiple natural factors.

About Rosita Real Foods

Rosita Real Foods is the only producer worldwide of authentic, artisanal and extra virgin cod liver oil. The company was co-founded by a Norwegian and an Englishman, who, after a disappointing search for a high-quality cod liver oil product, decided to start marketing their own. With passion for ancient production methods and the desire to preserve both tradition and nature, Rosita Real Foods works with committed companies, universities and institutes. FAQ

Should I take the softgels or the liquid? nl

Rosita Extra-Virgin Cod Liver Oil is exactly the same regardless of the form you choose to purchase. Both the softgels and liquid have a full spectrum of omegas and fatty acids, high levels of vitamins A and D in the their natural, unadulterated form, and are raw and fresh.

In terms of the milligrams per bottle, the liquid is much more economical. At roughly 1/2 a teaspoon a day, the liquid will last you two months where the softgels will last you a little under one month.

Every winter I use Cod Liver Oil to prop up my immune system and counter the loss of sunlight and the consequential drop in vitamin D levels.

Softgels are to me the most practical means of consumption, as I can carry this with me and just pop a gel at meals away from home.
