Bone Broth - Natural & Herb-Free, by Broth of Life

For eons, people have been brewing bone broth reflecting their belief in its beneficial effects on the human body. Broth is an efficient and natural way to supply your body with gelatin. Broth of Life's natural bone broth is made from the meat and bones of 100% pasture beef that has been simmering for hours to allow the nutrients to be slowly released. This bone broth by Broth of Life is also herb-free and has a great, natural taste. This variant is ideal for people who suffer from allergies or who follow a specific diet.

What makes Broth of Life bone broth so special?

Bone broths come in various qualities, as becomes clear when you understand what it takes to make a good bone broth. Broth of Life has put together a number of beautiful bone broths that are very special for several reasons. First, the water used for the bone broth is filtered three times through a special system to ensure that there is no chlorine or fluoride in the water. The soup is then made, with plenty of time and attention dedicated, through a manual and extremely careful production process. Part of this process is to simmer for a minimum of 24 hours so that collagen and other nutritious components that animal bones and connective tissues are naturally rich in are given time to release.

Broth of Life has an edge over competitors in this field through its years of research and product development. For example, Broth of Life was the first worldwide to dehydrate its products in order to package them in a handy powder form that has a long shelf life and is easy to use. In addition, Broth of Life broth is the world's first 100% certified bone broth! Broth of Life considers it very important to be transparent about all ingredients used. This way you can be sure that you get a high-quality product when choosing Broth of Life's nutritious 'golden elixirs'—as the company itself likes to call this line of broths.

Bone broth as an ancient tradition

Well before pots and pans were invented, our ancestors drank bone broth to feed and heal themselves. This traditional drink dates back to the Stone Age, when it was made by adding hot stones to pouches made from animal skin, to which water, animal meat, fat and bones were then added. In more recent times, some 22,000 years ago, pots were used in China filled with animal bones, meat and water. Such a pot was put on the fire, where the brew turned into a delicious bone broth while simmering. The same ancient techniques are still used to create this nutritious soup. Made from organic animal food sources, a good bone broth, is rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids and bioavailable collagen, which makes the fluid not only a delicious drink, but also a traditional superfood. It is for a reason that it is recognized worldwide as one of the most powerful and nutritious natural food sources available.

The secret of bone broth

Bone broth contains many minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and sulfur, and in a form that the body can absorb well (electrolytes). Bone broth also contains the important amino acids glycine and proline. Finally, bioavailable collagen is one of the most important components of a good bone broth. By long-term simmering, collagen is converted into the easily absorbable gelatin, a gel-like substance that is particularly beneficial for the body. In addition to gelatin, bone broth also contains special carbohydrates, which occur naturally throughout connective tissues.

Benefits:

  • Effortlessly put a high-quality bone broth on the table
  • Easy to use powder form
  • Suitable for young and old
  • Rich in gelatin and glycosaminoglycans
  • Rich in glycine, arginine, glutamine and proline
  • Strictly pasture cattle
  • No pesticides, antibiotics, hormones or GMOs

The importance of collagen for our body

Collagen accounts for 25% to 35% of the total protein content in our body. The important protein consists of amino acids and peptides, which our cells use as building blocks to produce the large collagen triple helix structure. This structure ensures that tissues and fibers in our body maintain their strength, cohesion and flexibility. From the age of about 25 the body's production of collagen decreases and it is useful to provide our body with sufficient collagen through food. There are distinct types of collagen: types I, II and III are the most important. More than 90% of the collagen in our body consists of type I collagen. Type II collagen is found in joints, ribs, nose, larynx and intervertebral discs, while type III is common in the skin and blood vessels. Bovine collagen is the most widely used source of collagen in collagen supplements and consists mainly of type I and type III collagen.

Bone broth versus collagen hydrolysate

In bone broth, collagen is converted into gelatin, which is easily absorbed by the body. You may have encountered supplements containing collagen hydrolysate, in which the gelatin has been further processed and the proteins have been broken up into smaller pieces by means of enzymes. While collagen hydrolysate contains only type I collagen, bone broth gelatin consists of multiple types of collagen and contains more nutrients, such as useful minerals, fats and special carbohydrates (glycosaminoglycans, also known as GAGs). Although gelatin in bone broth is richer, both forms contain essential amino acids that are easily absorbed and have the same nutritious properties.

Rich source of scarce amino acids

Proteins are made up of building blocks called amino acids. These amino acids, 22 in total, are divided into essential and non-essential amino acids. The body can produce non-essential amino acids itself. This is not the case for the essential amino acids, rendering it essential that you acquire these amino acids either through your diet or through supplements. The amino acid profile in bone broth is quite unique: it contains high concentrations of glycine, glutamine, arginine and proline. They are all essential amino acids.

Eating from head to tail

Animal organs have been eaten in all traditional civilizations across millennia, from Native American to ancient Chinese cultures. Traditional healers had the insight that eating healthy, animal organs has a nurturing effect on the same organs in the human body. Today, as a result of prosperity and abundance, we have largely forgotten the head-to-tail principle, and some even shy away from consuming animal organs. Fortunately, there has recently been a revival of this ancestral way of life and of evolutionary food: organ therapy is back. After all, it is part of an ethical, sustainable and healthy lifestyle to use animals in their entirety for consumption. Organ meats contain high concentrations of nutrients, such as vitamin B12 and folate, and are an excellent source of iron and protein. In addition, organs also contain nutrients that our corresponding human organs crave. Organ meat is therefore the ideal food for those who want to live healthily and sustainably while respecting animals and environment.

About Broth of Life

For many, making bone broth oneself often seems like a step, or a few steps, too far. It is a long process and finding the right ingredients is not easy. The pure bone broth from the Australian family company Broth of Life is a godsend for anyone who wants to enjoy the taste of an authentic, high-quality bone broth. The powdered broth is made from pasture chickens and grass-fed cattle that are kept naturally. The bones are slowly extracted using pure water, vegetables and apple cider vinegar, which optimally preserves their taste and nutritional value. It is for a reason that Broth of Life broths are the only certified powdered bone broths in the world! Broth powder can be dissolved in boiling water, but can also be sprinkled over sauces, stews or regular meals, just as you use herbs in your kitchen.
