Vitality, or 'life force,' means having enough energy to undertake something. However, this undertaking must go hand in hand with the physical, mental, and emotional freedom to achieve it. Vitality always goes together with a good physical and mental balance.

How does your body provide energy?

In our body, energy is continuously generated in all cells. This process takes place in the mitochondria, which are like the energy factories of our body found in almost all of our cells. Mitochondria are particularly abundant in our muscle cells, so having more muscles, for example, through strength training, means having more mitochondria in your body. Energy production in mitochondria occurs through a process called cellular respiration, a complex biochemical reaction that generates energy, also known as ATP. This process involves the biological combustion of small biomolecules, mainly glucose. For this to occur, the food that enters the body needs to be broken down into substances useful for the body. Mitochondria don't actually produce energy themselves; instead, they convert it from one form to another. You can think of this process as the respiration of your cells.

Mitochondria and feeling fit

Properly functioning mitochondria are essential for a healthy and fit body with an ample supply of energy. They provide the energy for all basic processes, such as your heart beating, food digestion in your intestines, cell renewal, and respiration. These basic bodily functions collectively consume around 70% of the available bodily energy. As we age, the number of well-functioning mitochondria per cell slowly decreases, leading to less available energy in the body as we get older.

Boost your vitality

Feeling fit and energetic has a positive impact on our mood, health, our interactions with others, and our overall performance. Many people are searching for natural energy sources in the form of food, energy supplements that suit them, or daily routines that promote energy metabolism. One way to increase your vitality is to exercise or engage in physical activities in the morning. This promotes energy production, which can benefit you throughout the day. Additionally, foods like brown rice, whole wheat pasta, beans, and quinoa are examples of real energy boosters rich in healthy carbohydrates, calcium, magnesium, B-vitamins, and iron. Of course, if you're feeling fatigued, you can also opt for supplements.

Herbs for more energy

If you want to naturally support your energy levels, several herbs are suitable for this purpose. Many of these herbs have been used for centuries due to their attributed positive properties. For example, ginseng is a commonly used herb that provides more energy and helps with fatigue*. Green tea also contributes to increased mental energy*. Another herb that is frequently used is maca, which originates from Peru. Maca promotes good mental and physical health*. Lastly, ashwagandha provides more energy*. Moreover, this herb aids in maintaining mental balance*.

Fatigue, supplements, and energy

In addition to using herbs, you can choose supplements to support you when experiencing fatigue. These supplements contain nutrients such as magnesium, copper, iron, calcium, iodine, and B-vitamins. You can use these nutrients individually, but you can also support the energy, vitality, and well-being of your body and mind with a well-dosed multivitamin. Ergomax offers a wide range of products that can promote energy metabolism, such as Ergomax's Vitamin B12 Spray, MitoQ® - Mitoquinol Mesylate from MitoQ, and Co-Enzyme Q10 - BioPerine® from Doctor's Best. The right energy supplement for you depends on your needs and preferences. If you have any questions or need advice, feel free to contact us; we are here to help!
